This is often the streamer I start with, and it often doesn't come off.  This is essentially an articulated wolly bugger with a wool head, a couple rubber legs and lead eyes.  These are available in two sizes and two weights - Size 4 with small lead eyes and Size 2 with medium lead eyes.  The smaller one fishes great on a 6-weight rod and has the perfect balance of sink and action.  The larger fly gets the nod in bigger flows or anytime getting more depth is important. 
These may not be the fanciest fly out there, but don't let that fool you.  These are phenomal flies for a wide variety of conditions and applications.  They are also phenomal on smallmouth bass in our local creeks.
