March 27, 2026 | Beaver Tailwater Fishing Report

Our unpredictable spring weather is certainly here! We've had record or near record high temps around 90, but some chilly mornings mixed in there as well. We haven't had much in the way of rain, but we look to get some coming up next week. Our temps look to level out into some more typical ranges next week too. The bite has been good and its been great to knock the dust off sandals and shorts a few times. Read on below for more details.

Beaver Tailwater Levels & Conditions

Beaver Lake remains well below power pool, and is holding around 1115.76, very similar to last week. The generation pattern has been pretty minimal, as they haven't released any water since Saturday. I wouldn't expect much generation in the coming days either. Since we haven't been getting a good flush of water, the lower end of the river from the Hwy 62 bridge downstream has had some stain develop. There have been lots of boats out and about as the weather warms up and all that traffic is stirring up the mud along the banks. I would sure love a couple hours of water every day coming through the turbines to clean it out a bit...but it hasn't hurt the fishing much.

The walleye and white bass have definitely moved up the river, and I'm seeing them up around Spider Creek. With the water this low I haven't gotten up above there, but I'm sure there a a few up there as well. We are still waiting for peak white bass numbers, but they'll show up sometime soon. I know I keep dangling that carrot in front of you, but Mother Nature operates on her own schedule! I sure expected to see a huge push of fish on this last warm front, but we should see it soon.

What's Working

Midges and micro jigs remain strong players. I can't say enough about the versatility of the micro-jig though. From trout to white bass and walleye, the just flat out get the job done. Hang them under an indicator and drift and twitch them back around weed beds and depth changes and you won't have trouble getting into fish. In the more stained water downriver, black has been my go to, and olive in cleaner water further upriver. Midges under an indicator are always going to be great, particularly anywhere from the dam down to Parker Bottoms where the water is gin clear.

Stripping small buggers and streamers is always fun as well, and it can be a blast when the fish are in a chasing mood.

To wrap up the week, we've been putting a lot of fish in the boat, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. We are still waiting on the big push of white bass, but we should be getting them soon. The trout are fat and happy and eating well, and we've had some glorious weather to be out in and enjoy.
